World famous diamond Kohinoor is associated with India and many Indians share deep sentiments with it though they haven't seen them in their life time. Kohinoor is regarded as India's pride and though many successive governments tried to bring back Kohinoor, it did not materialise.

Modi after assuming office

Prime Minister Modi after assuming office, is once again trying his best to bring back Kohinoor. Even as speculation is increasing on whether Britain will return back Kohinoor, Indian origin British MP Kieth Vaz speakign to scribes said there is no point in Britain to keep Kohinoor in its possession.

Recently Congress MP Sashi Tharoor made hard hitting speech at Oxford University and in which he asked Britain to pay for reparations to India for its brutal colonial rule. Vaz welcoming his speech demanded Britain to return Kohinoor when PM Modi visits UK in November.

UK PM David Cameron is going out of his way to strengthen the relations between India and Britain but it has to be seen how far it will go to return Kohinoor. Kohinoor which once used to be in the Kollur mine of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, is now part of the Crown of Queen Elizabeth II and Britain refused to return it to India.
