Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Lok Sabha member from Anantapur J C Diwakar Reddy, who calls spade a spade on any issue went on to say that all parties together have spent a mammoth 10000 Crore in the recent Andhra Pradesh Elections. He himself admitted that he had spent Rs 50 crore for the victory of his son J C Pawan from Anantapur Parliament.
Political Experts say that YSR Congress spent the maximum in this election as they feel this is going to be a do or die election. TDP candidates on the other side, relied on Government freebies to bail them out. Also, Central Government tightened the screws on TDP candidates through IT, ED raids, etc.
According to JC, the average expenditure in each parliamentary constituency, irrespective of the political parties is at Rs 25 crore while it has gone to 50 Crore in some seats. A few candidates have even got to 70 Crore. Needless to say, they will be resorting to massive corruption to cover these expenses.
