Former central minister and senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said that in 2002 the then Indian Prime Minister atal bihari vajpayee wanted to dismiss Narendra modi from the  Gujarat Chief minister role. Yashwant Sinha revealed this during a press conference in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Following the 2002 communal riots of Gujarat Vajpayee decided to put pressure on Narendra modi and make him resign from Chief minister post in Gujarat and in BJP national meeting he also planned to dissolve Gujarat government in case modi did not resign.


Besides the then internal affairs minister LK Advani was against dismissing Narendra modi and blackmailed that he will resign if modi is dismissed and this stopped Vajpayee from dismissing modi.
