Reportedly former india captain Sourav Ganguly, who is set to take charge as the head of Board of Control for cricket in india (BCCI), on Tuesday spoke about his meeting with BJP President amit shah a day before he emerged as the lone contender in the race to be BCCI president. Meanwhile after Ganguly met Shah, the rumors of the former india cricketer joining the ruling party in india started doing the rounds. Perhaps there were speculations about a deal between Ganguly and Shah over the BCCI presidentship in return of the former representing the BJP in Bengal for elections in 2021.

Furthermore Ganguly has rubbished all such reports, saying, there was no political development in his meeting with Union Home Minister. Ganguly told reporters "I met amit shah for the first time ever. Neither did I ask a question on BCCI, whether I was going to get a post or not, nor any discussion of you will only get this if you agree to that’ happened. There is no political development and he heard these political questions before too when I met Mamata didi, the chief minister of West Bengal".

Amit Shah said "I did not decide who will be BCCI President. BCCI has its own election process for it”. Moreover when asked about Sourav Ganguly meeting Amit Shah, the home minister said, "He can come see me. I have been associated with cricket for years. There is no harm in Sourav Ganguly meeting me.
