If the buzz in political circles is to be believed, Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to resign along with all his MLAs demanding Special Status for the state. Jagan wants to exert pressure on the center with this step as well as corner Chandrababu Naidu on the issue.

Jagan feels that Special Status is the only issue which can ignite sentiment in people and get them rally behind him and his party. Jagan is trying to throw the ball in Chandrababu Naidu's court in special status issue and make him come out of NDA government so that Naidu's central life line will be cut.

However this is a very risky step as YSR Congress may jump the fence as most of them fear facing by-elections. Most of them feel YSR Congress' graph is sliding down after the elections and also they are in a funds crunch as elections happened only less than two years ago. Being in an opposition, they are running low on funds to face one more by-elections.

Mass resignations will mean that many will join the ruling party. Also if TDP manages to win few seats of YSR Congress, it will only strengthen the ruling party at the cost of Jagan's highly risky political step. We will have to see what decision Jagan takes finally.
