The traders who are based in Sultan Bazar and Koti areas of Hyderabad are reportedly quite furious at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his refusal to make effective the Hyderabad Metro Rail re-alignment along this particular stretch.

The traders had observed bandh recently protesting the decision of TRS government which has surprisingly stuck to the original realignment that would now result in the demolition of hundreds of shops located in these popular heritage markets, dating back to Nizam's period.

There was a long pending demand to change the Hyderabad Metro route in Sultan Bazar for protecting the heritage markets and also to make sure that their livelihood doesn’t get affected right from the time this Metro project was conceived in the year 2007.

KCR who was leading the Telangana struggle then extended support for these demands and also took part in agitation programmes of traders against the Metro Rail. After KCR became CM, the traders here were relieved with a hope that Metro rail route would be realigned. KCR also vowed in Assembly that he will not allow Metro to destroy Sultan Bazar. Now Metro works have slowly resumed here.
