Chennai finally has some bright and clear skies from yesterday. But still it is suffering from water logs and swamps. The low lying areas in Velacherry are still without electricity. Offices were closed and most of them in Chennai were treated like refugees.
The localities walk along with waist-deep water as they need to buy some basic needs for eating. A person from velachery area said, "We have to take toothbrush to office and we need to start walking earlier. We also take extra pair of clothes as we walk in water.
We have induction stove and without current we can't prepare food. As there is no current, it is dangerous to walk in waist deep waters. But still we have to. The water has been discharged from a lake near by and that has added more woes. Chennai Corporation's Regional Deputy Commissioner Anna Durai said the water will be pumped soon. But the measures are taking place slowly."
Another person who is in Kancheepuram district's Thiruneer Malai area said, his family members and pet dog were in terrace for two days and only army has brought them to safety.
