The incessant rains has caused great havoc in Andhra Pradesh. Despite relief measures, there has been huge damage to the people. Waterlogs and swamps are in every street. Food packets and medical aid are being provided with help of choppers. Now Chandra Babu Naidu has posted a lengthy Facebook message and has asked everyone to stand along with each other. His post is given below,
"The last one week has been harrowing for people of Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Prakasam and East, West Godavari districts.I have been monitoring the situation constantly by holding teleconference with respective district collectors and carrying out aerial surveys from time to time.
The floods have caused extensive crop damage upto 2 lakh hectares, damage to infrastructure, houses, irrigation tanks as well as electricity stations, poles, etc. It is depressing and unfortunate that 35 people lost their lives while the floods have affected a total of 146 villages in the state severely.
In view of the massive damage caused to the state due to floods, we have estimated the damages up to Rs. 3,000 crore. Yesterday, I wrote letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajanath Singh, briefing them about the loss to the state and also on the relief and rehabilitation measures we have taken. I have sought an initial package of Rs.1,000 crore for Andhra Pradesh which has been ravaged due to floods."
