Two engineering students were arrested for assaulting a 21 year old woman in a lif at an apartment complex in Potheri which is located near Vandalur. The residents arrested the accused and they beat them before calling the police.
Immediately Maraimalai Nagar police arrived at spot and they arrested Sarat Kumar (21 years) and Chandan Kumar (20 years). Both are from Bihar and they are studying engineering at a Private college in Vandalur. As per reports, Isha who is from Madhya Pradesh stepped inside the lift to go to her home.
Her home was in 5th floor. But she saw two guys and she stepped back. But one of them pulled her inside and other hit fifth floor. As the lift moved, they started to harass her. Some residents who saw this rushed to save her. But they harassed and the guys were found to be drunk.
Police booked cases under Section 4 (1) of Tamil Nadu (Prevention) of Women Harassment Act and 294 (b) (abusing) of IPC. The inmates of the complex said to police that these two students are in the same complex for more than 10 years.
