The floods have completely been drained and rescue operations are being carried out. But due to the aftermath of floods, there has been piles of garbage everywhere in Chennai. Most of the houses are with swamps and filled with mire. Right now a report states that the garbage alone has been estimated to be 15,000 tonnes.

Sad thing is most of the garbage are rotting faster than usual as more parts of Chennai are still water-logged. Kotturpuram is one of the most affected areas in Chennai. Municipal workers are working round the clock to clear the garbage.

But as the pile is huge the results are not being fruitful. The drinking water is getting mixed with gutter and people are finding hard to drink that. People are cleaning their homes with the water they have.

Chennai commissioner Vikram Kapoor said, "Around 25000 workers are working round the clock and as lots of places are affected things are being so hard. Each day we clear around 5000 tonnes of garbage. These days not even half the number are showing up for work."
