Telangana CM KCR and his son, IT, Panchayatraj Minister KTR received huge shock from the Election Commission.EC issued notices to KCR and KTR demanding explanation within 48hours for violating Election Code.EC has taken exception to CM KCR making promises to the leaders of Khammam district at his CM camp office.
EC even found fault with Minister KTR by welcoming some in the Secretariat with TRS party shawls.EC sent notices after receiving complaints from various opposition parties about KCR and KTR violating election code during MLC elections for local bodies.
K.Ajaya Kumar, Principal Secretary of Election Commission in his notice to CM KCR stated “You as Chief Minister of Telangana addressed a meeting organised to admit Congress party leaders from Khammam district into the TRS on November 28 at your official camp office and announced that Khammam district would be developed on par with Godavari districts of AP and that Khammam district would reap benefits from the unification of Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar. The above mentioned conduct on your part amounts to willful and intentional violation of the provisions of the model code of conduct which interalia prohibit such meetings in your official camp office.”
Notice served to KTR questioned “On November 27, you have admitted some leaders into TRS party in your official chambers in Secretariat by offering them pink coloured khanduvas. The above mentioned conduct on your part amounts to willful and intentional violation of the provisions of model code of conduct which interalia prohibit such meetings in your chambers at Secretariat. Commission hereby calls upon you to show cause as to why action should not be taken against you for the violation. Your written explanation should reach the Commission within 48 hours, failing which the Commission would take ex parte action in the matter without further reference to you.”
It has to be seen how KCR and KTR respond to the EC notices and how TRS party deal with the attack from the opposition parties.
