Theaters in Hyderabad are slowly deteriorating and things are getting so worse. Except multiplexes, single screens have poor maintenance. There has been no proper seats, fire safety measures, proper toilets and so on. But it seems none of the officials care about it.
A person from public said that officials turn blind when it comes to these poor facilities in theaters. The police, legal meteorology department, the GHMC and the fire department are all just watchdogs and nothing more. Movie buffs say that they are being deceived with high ticket prices and the facilities are so pathetic.
All the above departments are responsible for ensuring that all screens have proper fire safety equipment, sound system, seating arrangements, CCTVs and door-frame-metal detectors along with good quality food and water. But none of them checks for it.
Regarding this, a checking inspector said, "When a theatre gets the initial no-objection certificate (NOC) we conduct inspections very hardly. Most of the theaters in Andhra Pradesh have got those. Our hands are tied."
