Chennai Floods has caused more disruption to people of Chennai. Especially schools and colleges were closed since Deepavali. The persistent rains have caused the disaster. The first spell of rains initially caused little damage. And the second spell completely immobilized. 


As the flood waters have been drained, Children are back to school. To compensate for the loss of working days, many schools are planning to extend timings and run classes on Saturdays. 


Akshaya Global School Principal from Velachery said, "We are planning to conduct extra classes to cover all the portion and as exams are postponed we are not planning to put the pressure on the students." A sixth standard student of the same school said, "We are happy to get back once again. It was getting more boring." 


29 educational institutes were damaged a lot and the flood waters are still not drained. So those 29 schools alone will re-open later. The state Government has promised to distribute free books and notebooks and uniform to students.
