Hyderabad was always a city which welcomed people from everywhere
and there were doubts whether Vijayawada could be as much friendly given
that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has grandiose
plans to develop new capital city of Amaravati as a global city on par
with Hyderabad.
Well the ground reality looks
discouraging for the least. Corporates, officials as well as employees,
who are planning to shift their operations from Hyderabad to Vijayawada
reportedly brought to the notice of the AP government that 'casteism' is
rampant in Vijayawada.
They are expecting that
the people of Vijayawada should change their attitude, if they really
want Vijayawada has to emerge as a cosmopolitan city like that of
Hyderabad. A major complaint aired by them is that when they approach
property owners for renting the premises, the first question involves
caste followed by queries regarding their native place, religion and state.
They
reportedly feel this to be very annoying to respond for such silly
questions whenever they are approaching someone in Vijayawada. CM Babu
has also pointed out the attitude of Vijayawada public in demanding
unreasonable rents and now comes the caste issue!
