Tamil Nadu Government has sought help of central government intervention to release the 41 fishermen who were arrested by Srilankan Government. The Chief Minister has also mentioned that this arrest has caused more frustration in Tamil Nadu as Christmas festival is nearing.
In a statement Jayalalitha has said, "The continued incarceration of our fishermen and impounding of their boats in Sri Lanka just as the festive season is beginning is causing great frustration and despondency amongst the fisher folk of Tamil Nadu."
Jayalalitha has also asked Modi to poke his nose and make necessary amendments to release the arrested 41 fishermen. She also requested Modi to get back those 56 boats which were taken away by Lankan authorities.
She also said Modi to take some decision as this arrest has became a habit for them. Modi was asked to take some decision at the earliest regarding this issue. But so far the centre has never responded back to Jayalalitha regarding the freedom of 41 fisher men.
