Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today told the Delhi High Court that no coercive steps would be taken against telecom companies as the next hearing date will be on 6th of January. So the call drop problems continue even now. The telecom companies were asked to make compensation with respect to call drops.
Additional Solicitor General (ASG) PS Narasimha made the submission before a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath which listed the pleas of mobile operators who challenged the call drop regulations for second hearing on January 6th.
But the ASG also made it clear that the regulations will be effective and will come into force only from 1st of January. Besides Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) and 21 telecom operators,
including Vodafone, Bharti Airtel and Reliance have made it clear that it is definitely not possible to provide a 100% call drop free network. They said, the call drops are a part of all networks.
