Andhra Pradesh Government is prioritizing irrigation projects and taking all necessary efforts for interlinking of rivers. They are also planning to introduce drip and sprinkler irrigation to make the state drought-free. The news was confirmed by Chief Minister N.Chandra Babu Naidu.


While speaking at Legislative Assembly on water and irrigation issue Naidu said that the Government will complete Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project within a span of four years.


He further added, "Pollavaram was given status of National project by the centre. As it will take four years of completion. The government already took the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme which is linked by Godavari and Krishna rivers. The initial phase of the scheme has been completed in a record time.


The crops in the state can be saved from cyclones which hit each year. The inter linking of rivers will help Rayalaseema. As per priority, Handri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagari and others would be taken up for the benefit of Rayalaseema. Our government will also encourage farmers to set up 'Farm Ponds'.
