2015 seems to be one of the productive year for Passport office. The office has got 410,000 applications for passport and this is the highest ever received by the state in one year. And so far they have issued 406,300 passports. This is the highest number in Tamil Nadu since the time it evolved.


An official statement said, the office has issued 2670 passports during special passport mela which was organized to produce for people who lost their documents in the recent havoc.


Regarding this regional passport officer K.Balamurugan said the new system and the new process has been so easy and that is the reason people are applying for passport. He also said that Karaikal, Villipuram and Dharmapuri alone have made 1043 applicants.


Similarly the nominal fee is also reduced to price of Rs.100. Balamurugan also said in order to help some people for online registration, they are planning to start an online application centre at all Regional Passport Offices. He says this can be more beneficial.
