After lots of hiccups with climate, the temperature has raised finally. Mercury has raised above the Freezing point in Kashmir. But still Gulmarg and Pahalgm will face a drop in temperature for next few days. An Official from Meteorological Department said,
"Pahalgam witnessed light rainfall during the night and the mercury there settled at minus 3.5 degrees Celsius against the previous night's zero degrees Celsius." Earlier the Merucry in Gulmarg dropped to a low of -5.8 degrees Celsius and finally it got settled at -8 degrees Celsius.
For the first time, the temperature went to minus and it was below the Freezing poit. The towns of Qazigund, Kupwara and Kokernag also witnessed temperature of 3.2 degrees, 0.8 degrees and 2.4 degrees.
Leh which is the frontier region of Ladakh, recorded a low of minus 9.3 degrees Celsius. There was a decrease of 4 degrees. from last nights -5.2 degrees. The winter season started the drop in mercury from December 21st and it continues still tonight.
