Unmindful of the good deal of pressure from local leaders to contest for 10 seats atleast if not many of the 150 GHMC seats which are going to polls on Feb 2,  the YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has now reportedly  decided not to contest.

There is perception that YSRCP had walked out of the poll fray for offering some indirect support to the TRS while opposing the Telugu Desam which has an alliance with the BJP. The YSRCP had announced that it is withdrawing from the civic poll fray.

But has expressed that it is working for strengthening itself in the GHMC area. Sources say that Jagan had curtly refused to contest following Warangal bypoll results, lack of proper strength in the twin cities etc.

The party however mentioned that TRS did not contest 2009 civic polls and is working now to defeat other parties in the civic body. There are many people especially from Rayalseema in Hyderabad who are hardcore admirers of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and his high growth phase in Hyderabad, but Jagan has left all that goodwill!
