It has been a common factor for people in Udagamandalam to have conflict with Wild elephants each day. Now the trouble has increased drastically. Due to the elephant menace, shops were closed and people stay inside homes. More than 300 people protested and they closed all shops at Gudalur.

The reason is one of the Wild elephant killed a man when it came down the hills. Protesters said they need a permanent solution for this Human-Animal conflict. They said each day their lives are passing with a fear. Last week, Aneesh was trampled to death by an elephant.

He was 28 years old. Police came to take his body and the villagers protested. A laththi charge happened in order to move the crowd. This created more sparks against Police. The shops were closed in order to show their rage against the police men who made laththi charge.

A Police Official said, "We need to take the body. The villagers were so rigid and persistent. We were left with no choice. So we just made little laththi charge to move the crowd." DMK legislator Dravidamani lead the fasting at Gudalur.
