The University of Hyderabad (UoH) vice-chancellor Appa Rao Podile has reportedly gone on an indefinite leave. The development is now being revealed at a time with reports that the seven students of UoH have again resumed their hunger strike.

Their main demand has been that Appa Rao who was named in the police complaint into Dalit Rohith Vemula's suicide has to be immediately removed from his post. Appa Rao was in the midst of a raging storm when Rohith Vemula hung himself last week.

He and four others were actually suspended and banned from the hostel for an allegation related to beating a member of the rival student union ABVP last year. Varsity students are demanding the VC's resignation right from last week.

In this regard they have received support from many of the other students unions as well. Appa Rao had tried in vain to meet Radhika , the mother of Rohith Vemula, but he was turned back even as on-campus agitations against him have only steadily increased in intensity!
