Chennai City Police arrested three persons which includes two women for murdering a 40 Year old idly vendor. The incident took place at busy streets of Ashok Nagar. Police found the body at a locked room.


Police identified the suspects as Madurai resident Saravanan, 30, his wife Suganya, 25, and her cousin Pavithra, 22. The accused confessed that they murdered the vendor after an argument turned as heated exchanged of words for the money which she owed them.


The victim's name was Babyammal. A Police official said, "Saravanan has strangled Babyammal when she came to distribute food. Three suspects took all her gold and they made police to believe that Gold was their only motive and not the dues. They tried to divert the police.


They pledged the jewellery with a pawnbroker in Ashok Nagar before fleeing the city for Tirupur. The building members have found a stinking smell from a locked room. They informed Ashok Nagar Police and when they broke the door, the body was found."
