GHMC Votings have finally ended and the polls started on a slow pace in most parts of the city. Initially the response was so lukewarm and slowly the vote percentage increased. More number of people showed their interest to cast votes.


The final figures read that the total number of polling was 3% higher than the 2009 Civic polls. The South Zone which comprises of Old city areas saw the biggest number of voting and in IT corridor the voting was so low.


The highest number of votes came from Ramachandrapuram (58.30%) and lowest from Azampura (10.60%).Areas such as Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kukatpally, Serillingampally registered an average of 40% voting. The areas which had a voting of more than 50% are Cherlapally, Ramanthapur, Meerpet HB Colony, Nacharam, BN Reddy Nagar and Nacha Bollarum.


Mr.Ahamed who is a voter from Banjara Hills said, "This is the second time I am seeing more youngsters are showing interest to cast their votes. The numbers are huge compared to 2009." Another person said, Social media campaigning has attracted most number of Youth.
