Anti Corruption Bureay (ACB) Officials caught a deputy executive engineer of the irrigation department when he was receiving Rs.1.35 Lakhs bribe from a contractor. He got the bribe to clear the bills at Saidabad.
Anti Corruption Bureau officials arrested M.Manik Prabhu who works on AMR Project in irrigation department at Gurrampode mandal of Nalgonda district. Jayapal Reddy who is a contractor gave the complaint and he is doing civil work for the Alimineti Madhava Reddy (AMR) lift irrigation scheme.
Manik Prabhu was paid 1.3 Lakhs in order to clear 32 Lakh worth bills. As per officials, Manik Prabhu has demanded 7% commission and it is around 2.25 Lakhs. Manik already cleared Rs.25 lakh worth bills and he has asked Jayapal reddy to pay the remaining bribe to clear the remaining bills.
However Reddy went to ACB and they clearly laid a trap near Manik's residence at Saidabad. Manik called Reddy and took him to a temple in the locality. After completing a Pooja, he demanded the bribe and Reddy insisted they should go to some other place. And as planned, he was trapped and caught red handed.
