In the year 1995, when Chandrababu Naidu and majority of TDP MLA’s raised a banner of revolt, the ball was in speaker Yanamala Ramakrishnudu’s court. He finally ruled in favour of Naidu and NTR was left devastated.  Now again the role of speaker is coming to the fore.

Telangana Speaker Madhusudhanachari is all set to be facing a tough test as the set of defected MLAs have sought for the TDLP merger with TRSLP. There are many legal implications over this issue. Madhusudhanachari is more or less acting on political orders of the ruling TRS until now.

He has kept all the disqualification applications under pending. While deciding finally regarding merger, the Speaker should be morally and legally obliged to first dispose of the disqualification petitions. In case they become disqualified, they may not have  the numbers to push for this merger.

Constitutional experts stated that as per 91 amendment of Indian constitution, around two-third MLAs can be pushing for the merger of legislative party only in case the party is merged. Here TDP is not officially merged with TRS and hence TDLP merger issue may not apply here.
