It's time for Telangana to wake up as agriculture production has taken a huge dip for the fourth consecutive season this year. As per latest reports on agriculture by the Telangana Directorate of Economics and Statistics, production of food, especially rice, has been on the decline.

Few years back, Telangana was the leader in rice production but now the situation has turned upside down. Agriculture is badly affected and there has been no proper rainfall. The ground water is also missing. Now adding more worries, the power supply situation is also a big problem in rural Telangana.

A senior official said, "Even the best cultivated zone has fallen drastically. There is no ground water. Farmers are looking for more electricity to lift water from bore wells. But even that is not readily available."

As per reports by the year 2013-14, the production was 65.28 lakh tonnes of food grains. It decreased to 44.72 lakh tonnes in 2014-15. The fall was up to 31.5%. Various studies and research are going on with respect to this fall.
