Chilled water will be sold through Kiosks in Hyderabad. This will be modelled based on Automated teller machines (ATMs). A model of this proposal was shown to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB).
Managing Director B.Janardhan Reddy was present during the review meeting and he analyzed the proposal. The Managind Director then directed officials to work out the proposal of installing water ATM's throughout the city. The public can get a litre of chilled water for just Re.1.
The water board also decided to draft women self-help groups (SHGs) for collecting water dues from defaulters, create awareness among people on conservation of water and monitor delivery of free tankers. As we reported earlier, Hyderabad is facing early summer this year and people are toiling under the hot sun.
As an initial phase around 200 Water ATM's will be placed around the city. The managing director also directed the officials to change water connections of Hotels, Private hostels and other commercial places from domestic to commercial.
