The District Election Officer and the Collector of Ramanathapuram started an election awareness rally by the nursing students of Government Women’s Arts College exercised the rally for the May 16th Assembly elections. The rally was organized to give awareness to the public to cast their vote and to make sure that 100% polling should be made at the area.


The nursing college students walked in the roads of busy bazaar and Roman Church Road with banners in their hands to make the public get awareness to cast their vote when they have completed their 18 years.


The Collector Natarajan also catapulted a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program at Utharavai and Sathankulam areas by organizing the pledge through women of self help group. The women took oath that they will guide the public to cast their votes in the election. The Collector has chosen these two villages as these areas received less number of votes in the 2011 elections.


The Panchayat Level Federations will involve in many activities and give awareness for casting their votes. By the time the Government Women Arts College students celebrated the International Women’s Day as Election Awareness day. The students have pledged to give such type of awareness programs and make people to cast their votes in the coming elections.
