Telangana government and Maharashtra had recently signed a widely
publicized agreement over the decades old disputed projects. The TRS
government has been claiming that it a huge achievement of their CM KCR.
But it appears there is some hiccup in the offing.
There
was also a huge welcoming rally for KCR after this agreement and
several hoardings were put up in the city praising KCR as the Bhagiradha
of Telangana. But suddenly Maharashtra government has refused such
claims.
Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister
Girish Mahajan has reportedly announced that there is no formal
agreement with Telangana over these projects. But they only
have set up an inter-state committee which examines the disputes arising
between both the states over these projects.
He
stated that Maharashtra will only sign an agreement after Telangana
government offers written assurance regarding objections of them. He
insisted Telangana first enter into an agreement with Andhra Pradesh
before actually coming to them and denied giving green signal to the
Medigadda Project!
