The Andhra Pradesh government has reportedly doubled the allocations for the purpose of minorities welfare in its 2016-17 budget. AP Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, as part of the state budget presented last week, has allocated Rs 710.57 crore for minority’s welfare.

This is for the year 2016-17 as against the budget estimates of Rs 378.81 crore in 2015-16. The allocations for 2016-17 includes Rs 9.17 crore for the non-plan and Rs 701.40 crore for planned expenditure. This is indeed a big boost for the minorities community.

In the Governor's address, the Andhra Pradesh government emphasized how the welfare of SCs, STs, BCs, minorities and women is on top of the agenda. New schemes like DukanMakan, Roshni, Dulhan and Shaadikhana are proposed for the welfare of minorities.

Haj houses are coming up at Kadapa and Vijayawada including the Urdu university in Kurnool. Minorities also supported Babu a lot before 1999 but now with reports that more MLA’s from Jagan may come in and that he may snap ties with BJP if no help is given for AP, this assumes significance!
