The Farmer G. Balan was beaten up by the policemen and the collection agents of a private bank have become a big issue and presently the farmer was given back his tractor. The farmer was charged as because of the delay in the repayment of loan amount.
The DMK, Makkal Adigaram and farmers made a protest against such act and the farmer has got loan from Kotak Mahindra Bank during 2011 and there was delay in paying the last two installments. The Thanjavur South District DMK cadres, district secretary Durai Chandrasekaran, former minister S.N.M.Ubayadullah, Kumbakonam MLA and the Town secretary protested against the police personnel and the bank agent for attacking the farmer.
A gang of Makkal Adigaram cadre staged a road rook near the new bus stand and has shouted slogans against the act, which was lead by the State Coordinator Kaliannan. At Orathanad 100’s of farmers belonging to the Farmer’s Coordination Committee protested under the leadership of the Committee’s President Deivasigamani.
Meanwhile the farmer G. Balan was given his tractor and has agreed to repay the loan amount which was made before the agitating farmer’s association representatives. The police officials have said actions will be taken against the bank agent and the police personnel.
