Finally Parliament passed the controversial Aadhaar Bill after huge debates happened in both the houses. After lots of drama, the Opposition succeeded  in pushing through five amendments to the Bill in Rajya Sabha. Earlier they were rejected in Lok Sabha.


The amendments were moved by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and were passed with a majority vote in favour. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who spoke in Lok Sabha said that the only objective was delivery of benefits, subsidies and services to the people. But the Opposition remained unconvinced.


Opposition said that the privacy of billion people cannot be compromised an they also objected the presentation of legislation as Money Bill. The issue was even considered as a matter of National security. The controversy and debate continued and finally the bill was passed.


Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "We are finally striking a nail into the coffin of the Upper house. I am questioning the competence of this House to legislate the Bill." The opposition also demanded to avoid sensitive private information of any individual from being disclosed.
