A group of Students today ravaged the residence of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao. He resumed his duty after he came back after a long leave. Today an Official press conference took place and it was announced that he will resume his duties today.
It has to be noted that Appa Rao went on a long leave as students agitated and they demand justice for demise of Dalit research Scholar Rohith Vemula. Rohith committed suicide on a hostel room on January 17th and the issue broke out.
It soon became a National issue. Appa Rao came back to the University and the students who were agitating raised slogans against the Vice chancellor. They also vented their rage by breaking window panes, Smashed doors and Television among other items.
The students also demanded that the Vice chancellor should be arrested immediately. Cops were called once again and they were deployed near ice Chancellor's lodge as tension prevailed on the campus. The press conference which was originally scheduled by 11:30pm was cancelled due to this protests.
