At Bannari Amman Temple nearly two Lakhs devotees prayed for their well being during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday and many thousand devotes performed Fire walk in the ritual as part of the yearly annual Kundam festival that has begun from March 7th.


Before the Fire Walk started there were processions of idols in the nearby villages, daily special pujas and special traditional dances were performed at Bannari. Many people from places of Tamilnadu and even from Karnataka have attended the festival at Bannari.


During the festival many devotees offered Turmeric, wood, garlic, tobacco salt and pepper to propitiate the idol. Few devotees offered country chicken at the grand festival which is been organized at Bannari. Quite many devotees offered their hair before God.


The State Environment Minister Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam, MP Sathyabama and labour commissioner Amutha are the pivotal dignitaries who had also performed the Fire Walk rituals.  Nearly 18oo police personnel were posted in the duty for looking after the security which was made under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, M.R.Sibi Chakravarthy.
