After dilly-dallying for many months, Andhra Pradesh’s secretariat employees have finally expressed their willingness for shifting to the temporary capital located in Amaravati by June 15th, according to the top AP officials and employee unions.


In total, about 54,000 employees working for various directorates and commissionerates will be moving to the Amaravati complex by the end of this August. This was reportedly decided at a meeting which was convened by chief secretary of AP, SP Tucker and municipal administration minister P Narayana along with the representatives of employee unions.


It was also decided the entire secretariat would be located in blocks 1, 2 and 3 at the temporary capital which is currently under construction, while the directorate staff would be then housed in block 4 and 5. In the sixth block,  there will be a assembly hall will be set up.


The officials of construction majors Larsen & Toubro and Shaporji and Pallonji, reportedly gave a detailed presentation regarding the building plan for the temporary secretariat complex. Meanwhile 20 percent of the staff will be continuing to work out of Hyderabad city till high court as well as administrative tribunal and legal offices are finally bifurcated.
