The YSRCP boss YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been trying his level best to counter the TDP government over Kapu Reservations issue. It is a known fact that the tilt in Kapu vote bank towards TDP laid the path for Chandrababu’s comeback after a decade.
There have been allegations that YSR Congress party and its leaders were behind the agitation and the violence seen after Kapu meeting in Tuni few months ago. Jagan could have then benefited in case Senior Leader Jyothula Nehru was made PAC Chairman.
But Jagan has again chosen a Reddy leader. This time he picked Rajendra Reddy, a onetime MLA for this post. TDP got a chance and has started alleging that YSR Congress is only tilted towards Reddy caste and has been doing little to the other castes.
Jyothula Nehru being ignored despite having all the experience shows that again Jagan may have committed a political mistake because nominating the former would have sent a right message to Kapu caste. So for now Kapus will continue to back TDP and Jagan seems to have embarked on a weak strategy!
