A US Contractor in New York has been ordered to pay a huge sum of $3.1 Million dollars for illegally outsourcing Government funded work to another sub-contractor who is from India.
Charles Tobin who is sole owner of Focused Technologies Imaging Services has agreed to pay the penalty and fees under an agreement with New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman after admitting that they violated New York federal laws by illegally outsourcing the work to a subcontractor based in Mumbai in 2008 and 2009.
US Authorities said that the Indian company was unaware about the work and they have accepted cooperation for more investigation. The agreement raises 3.45M$ contract in 2008-09 between the New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to digitize and index 22 Million fingerprint cards into a database.
The cards will contain all privy data that includes Social Security numbers, date of birth and basic physical characteristics. Focused just paid 82000$ for this indexing.
