Due to heavy temperature it is expected that the rate of vegetables will grow as water scarcity is hitting the Ranga Reddy district is taking tough time for the cultivation. Ranga Reddy district is the supplier of vegetables to Hyderabad city and there is steep fall in the output of fruits and vegetables.

The horticulture was done with 60,000 hectares and the bore wells are drying fast due to the bad weather. Nearly 7.68 lakh metric tons of vegetables are consumed every year in the Hyderabad city. Presently the cultivation is taken up to 30,000 hectares and the yield will be 2.25 Lakhs tones.

The present situation is due to shortage of water and they are taking steps to increase the yield. The Deputy Director of Horticulture of Ranga Reddy district B.Babu has issued pamphlets to farmers in the district suggesting improvement measures for the output.

Some parts of the city’s vegetables come from Nalgonda, Medak and Mahabubnagar and these districts are also facing tough times with the usage of water. When the production goes down, the middlemen come and increase the rate. The farmers have opted for subsidy from the government and this is the only solution which can be given.
