There are reports that the Congress high command is more or less sure of entrusting the task of reviving the grand old party in Andhra Pradesh to its senior leader and currently the Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son and vice-president Rahul Gandhi seem to have arrived at the conclusion that only KVP now has the capacity and ability to bring back the lost glory to the party in years to come.
KVP was considered a strong loyalist of late CM Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and is seen as an out and out Congressman. This Kamma leader has a fair knowledge about the party’s structure in Andhra Pradesh right from grass-roots level. He can also mobilize finances for the leaders to fight elections.
KVP is also considered as a master strategist and a silent worker. The recent Chalo Delhi rally of the APCC fighting for the special category status to AP has gained good mileage to the party in AP after a long time. Till now, Congress leadership felt he has been indirectly backing Jaganmohan Reddy but now they are convinced of his loyalty!
