The Andhra Pradesh has started to face severe water scarcity due to bad weather and burning heat. Nearly 80% of the village tanks and summer storage tanks are almost dry. Presently the maximum temperature is 4 to 6 degree Celsius higher than the usual temperature.

The scenario will become worse when the temperature continues and there will be relief only when there is rainfall in all the areas. Guntur and Prakasam districts are most affected areas. The officials are working hard without good sleep to release 4.5 tmc feet of water from the Srisailam reservoir.

The Guntur district authorities have made a blue print for filling up of 629 village tanks and municipal storage tanks in all the 14 towns. The district TDP President GVSSR Anjaneyulu has said Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to discharge funds for the supply of water to remote areas.

Meanwhile the officials are worried that the tap water will be sufficient to manage the situation for a period of 15 to 20 days. The water which is discharged from Sagar will be completely consumed by the first week of April and there will be no sources to get more water.
