There has been a huge shortfall in spending on minorities welfare in Telangana for the past two years and the Finance department has discharged during the current accounting year 2015-2016 only Rs. 610 crores were discharged to the minorities welfare department.


This amount was against the budgetary allocation of Rs. 1176 crores for the welfare of the minorities and for supplementary estimates around 71 crores were earmarked. Presently the exact amount which was incurred for minorities’ welfare was Rs.416 crores and only 52% were considered as budgetary releases.


During the accounting year 2014-2015, there was shortfall in spending for minorities and the total allocation was Rs. 1,102 crores which includes supplementary estimates also and the finance department has discharged only Rs.396 crores.


The actual reason for the shortfall was quoted by the state functionaries, which includes the CM and the deputy chief minister is due to staff shortage in Minorities Welfare Department and the institutions which are functioning under its control. During the upcoming accounting year the budgetary allocations have been increased to Rs. 1,204 crores. The government will focus on delivery mechanism it surely wants to achieve the budgeted outlay for minorities’ welfare.
