On Wednesday, the freedom fighter Muthuramalinga Sethupathy was paid floral tribute on his birthday. The collector S. Natarajan garlanded a like size bronze statue of the King which is installed at the entrance of the collectorate office and paid tributes at a function which was organized by the Department of Informations and Public Relations.


Revenue Divisional Officer Rampradeepan , Public Relations Officer P.Gandhi and Tahsildar Mari and many paid tribute to the freedom fighter on his birthday. Sethupathy the King was born in 1760 and was crowned as the King when he was 72 days old and his mother has become the regent.


During 1772, the Nawab of Arcot has teamed up with the British and has attacked his kingdom and has captured when he was just 12 years old and when he was his mother and sisters. They were discharged ten years later following revolts and upsurge.


Meanwhile the British has attacked him again during 1795 and this time he was lodged at Fort St George in Chennai where he died in 1809. Patron of education, time, music and the King has started a Schwartz school in 1785 and it was the first English medium school in the district. The King earned fame after he built the third corridor of the famous Ramanathaswamy Temple at Ramanathapuram and he has financed to Swami Vivekananda to Chicago to address the conference of all religions.
