The district Collector and the District Electoral Officer M.Ravikumar has told that only after getting prior permission for the media certification and the monitoring committee which was set up by the District Administration, cadres of political parties will catapult the poll campaigns through the recognized social media.
The concerned candidates and the parties have to get the permission of airing or publishing advertisements in the social media which includes Cable network, radio and social media. A meeting was organized for the representatives of the political parties to pass the informations which were imposed by the committee as per the instructions from the Election Commission.
The committee members will be keep watching the poll related news and features which are appearing in the print and electronic media during the forthcoming May 16th Assembly elections. Examination of reports will be made by the committee that appears in different publications or in electronic media to ascertain whether they belong to the category of paid news.
The certification of advertisements, monitoring of news in print and electronic media and keeping records of all election related news of candidate will be maintained by the committee. During the meet, the District Revenue Officer S. Murugaiah and Thoothukudi Sub collector and Returning officer S. Gopala Sundara Raj and many were present in the discussion.
