The government of Andhra Pradesh has reportedly named a proposed
Urdu university in Kunrool district after Moulvi Abdul Haq. Moulvi Abdul
Haq is actually a Pakistani professor who was born in India and later
he shifted to Pakistan after India Pakistan separation in the year
1947.
Moulvi Abdul Haq is considered as the
father of Urdu for his contributions to the development of the language
in Indian sub-continent. AP government had inadvertently passed a bill
on Pakistani professor’s name instead of naming its after Abdul Haq.
Abdul
Haq is a well known educationist and philanthropist who worked for
decades for the uplift of Muslims in the erstwhile Madras Presidency.
Already the Unani College in Kurnool has been named after Dr Abdul Haq.
The
proposed university is being set up in Orvakallu near Kurnool city in
an area of 125 acres for which CM Chandra Babu laid the foundation
stone in last November. Many feel that this is nothing but gross
negligence and now they should pass the bill again with right person’s
name!
