The iconic Social activist Medha Patkar was restricted to enter the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) Campus by the university security personnel. The HCU’s Chief Security Officer T V. Rao has stated that the varsity security personnel have locked the main entrance gate and did not allow the social activist to enter the university campus.

From March 23rd, the university management has decided not to allow any politicians, social activist and the media persons to enter the campus. Patkar has addressed the students on both sides of the gate and she was wondered as she is neither a politician nor a media reporter.

She added that many universities are turning around as battlefields, which is a serious matter and it has to be fought about the issue. On March 31st, the university security has also restricted three Kerala MP’s and social activist Teesta and Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav and others from entering the varsity campus on April 1st.

The university administration has imposed a blockade on the campus and has prevented the students to meet any outsiders. The JAC has said “Chalo HCU” is also against the imposed blockade on the university. The HCU is in the boil from January as the Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula has committed suicide in the varsity campus.
