On Monday, the ships were carrying around 200 migrants and refugees from more than 130 from Lesbos and 60 from Chios are set off across the Aegean Sea from the nearby islands. Presently the first boat with many dozens of passengers on board has arrived at Dikili, which is located at Turkish Coast and it was accompanied by two Turkish Coastguard vessels and a helicopter.

The passengers were taken to the small white tent on the quayside which is behind the security fencing and they have also met the immigration officials. Giorgos Kyritsis a spokesperson for the government refugee crisis committee has told the state television that all the migrants who have returned are from Pakistan and two migrant from Syria who have returned voluntarily.

The whole idea about this scheme is to deter people from making that dangerous sea crossing from Turkey here to Greece. But as those ferries have left nearly 58 migrants were brought to the shore by the coastguard and half were taken away to Turkey has arrived to Turkey.

Although the first migrants to be sent back are anticipated from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, Syrians who have crossed illegally will also be expelled if they have arrived since March 20th. Europe’s politicians want expulsions to act as a deterrent from boarding the smugglers boat and there are signs that it is not working and the migrants are still expecting to connect with the smugglers and has to move to Europe.
