Income Tax (IT) department has conducted a raid on the famous infrastructure firm 'Ashoka Buildcon'. Raids were conducted at Ashok Katariya's residence and office with respect to some illegal finance transactions. A tip off was provided that some financial transactions has took place between the company and jailed NCP leader Chagan Bhujbal.
Raid started by early morning at Company's office at Ashoka Marg, then at Katariya's residence in Gangapur road and also at Pimplagaon toll plaza which is built by the same construction company. This raid happened with respect to the recent arrest of former district guardian minister in the disproportionate assets case.
BJP MP Kirit Somaiya said, "The enforcement directorate, the anti-corruption bureau and the IT department are inquiring about all the transactions which is made between Ashoka Buildcon and Bhujbal."
It has to be recalled that, a Pune court had recently established that Ashoka Buildcon charged 73 Crores instead of 5 Crores for building a toll near Pune. Regarding the raids, a source within IT department said, "Right now we can't comment and we are still under process of verifying the documents."
