Government of Telangana announced a discount of 5% to people who pay their Property tax before April 30th. The news was confirmed by Janardhan Reddy. Speaking to media, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Janardhan Reddy said,
"People can avail the Tax benefit for the financial year 2016-17. Government has aimed to collect Rs.200 Crores as Tax through this offer." When such a discount offer was earlier introduced in the financial year 2013-14, Government collected Rs.109 Crores in taxes, by 2014-15, Government collected Rs.111 Crores and by 2015-16, Government collected Rs.161 Crores.
So this year, the Government has aimed for 200 Crores. People are also showing more interest to pay the money as they get benefit of 5%. At the same time, Government also gets benefit of early payment.
So in the end it is just a Win-Win situation. The property tax will be collected at Corporation office. Or this can also be made through online payment and the discount offer will be made through bank transaction.
