Presently the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has planned to invest Rs.350 crores to develop technologies for computing in Indian languages. The C-DAC Director General Rajat Moona has said that thrust’s aim is to bring internet to the common man and implementing National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).


Moona has told that they are looking at Indian languages computing another localization and making the sites and software made available in the Indian languages, which is close to Rs.350 crore kind of project. When discussing about NSM he has said that they are working on supercomputing technologies and National Supercomputing Mission is on the way, and currently they are looking forward to its implementation.


C-DAC is looking forward to make investment in hardware design and technologies. He further added that India has already taken enormous lead in software technology and yet there are few projects they are planning to catapult in this particular year and that too primarily for hardware technologies.


Moona also said C-DAC is working with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on standardization of language keyboards. In times to come , those standards would be useful and will be available and suddenly keyboard technology have become different and they are working with BIS on defining newer standards for the same.
